Raleigh PD Updates on The I-40 Shooter: 7 cars hit by gunfire, unclear if related to shootings

The Raleigh Police Department holds a news conference on Nov. 7, 2024, after a car was found with a bullet hole near University Suites apartments. It's the seventh car hit by gunfire in the area this week. A man called 911 to report he was on his way to work, traveling on Trailwood Drive, when the bullet hit his door, police said. The man, who was not struck by the bullet, pulled over to call 911. Sky 5 flew over the police investigation at 10 a.m., which centered around the man's car parked at University Suites, an apartment complex off Trailwood Drive. Investigators searched the car for evidence and took photos of the damage. There was one bullet hole visible in the front driver's side door, and shattered glass was on the road. WRAL News spoke briefly with the owner of the car, who said he was leaving for work when the bullet struck his door.
