Bella And Steve Bella Gets Washed Down Stream August 7th 2023

August, 7th, 2023, Today was another day where my superhero dog Bella got caught up in a flashback moment of my last video and the crazy wild woodchucks or of the Chattanooga Chuck.. And also of the wild bull on a farm, as well as her one mistake today that washed her down stream in a raging brook that took her some 100 feet or more... that was a bad moment of total fear for me... We sat out today August 7th, 2023, to just visit the trestle at Salisbury mills New York and try to capture a train going over the trestle... And then just take my superhero dog Bella swimming; but it got way, way off course somehow today... And today's scenario, todays antics ended up becoming a kind of Willy Wonka's everlasting Gobstopper as my dog ended up jumping right Into a raging brook and was carried away by the raging currents. At that point I felt that I will have to retrain her in the recall as well as the sit stay, as she just did not listen. I blame myself for that because I now let her make her own choices when the hike or dog walk has ended. Always if she is well behaved on the hikes or dog walks I reward her by setting her free and giving her some free time to do her own thing and I also see this bit of freedom as her reward and she does also, as she now looks forward to this moment... So now it is back to school and now she will have to sit/stay when we end the hike until I leash her up and she will get to do her own thing which is to swim, run or play when I have released her to do so... Why? Not for punishment but for safety reasons, she ended up some 100 to 200 feet down stream and she then tried to come back to my car where it was parked and she crossed a major highway and cars had to stop and they were worried for her safety... Now I did mention the negative spiral of punishment but punishment is not what I am aiming at here, it is safety and any kind of punishment would only not train her but it would turn her into a helpless dog who does not realize or understand why she is being punished. I will simply now just have her sit /stay at the end of the dog walk or hike and then release her when she is in more control and has the time to realize that she just cannot go and do things like cross highway or do anything that a puts her in danger... when she calms down more... Very often it is our reactions or my reactions to this situation that may be perceived by my superhero dog Bella as not fully comprehended. I now have to be the one to decide for my superhero dog Bella what is right and what is wrong and do it in a very compassionate way. Other than that moment of safety concerns the day was great as my super hero dog Bella seemed to enjoy the dog walk, yet she again got very over heated since the day was very muggy and humid and that was the real cause of her running off to the water, brook to swim. So for now on I will be more cautious for her safety and not punish her for today's issue but simply retrain her so that she is safe and not in any kind of harms way. Today we did however get the video I wanted of the train going over the trestle in Salisbury Mills NY and it was really cool. And my superhero dog Bella met a friendly male bull with horns and she was kind of mystified over this large animal, and moved ever so slowly toward the creature as I walked with her to test the waters... The day and the dog walk was still a good one and it was a new learning experience for both me and my superhero dog Bella. My superhero dog Bella is amazingly adaptable and very resilient so she and I can alway fix any issue or problems, with positive methods and not fear that she will make that mistake again. Learning for my superhero dog Bella is alway a positive change in her behavior and it is always due to the great experience between her and I that is always fun and full of a learning experience... And that she enjoys and yes all behaviors are influenced by consequences / reward or punishment, I alway look for the positive ways, always that my superhero dog Bella needs to aid her to learn; so I want to see change and I want it to be fun and acceptable for her...THE END!
