Great Ocean Road, 12 Apostles, Twelve Apostles, Great Otway National Park. Located south west of Melbourne between the cities of Torquay and Allansford is a 243 km stretch of road named the Great Ocean Road. Built by returned soldiers in the depression following the first World War the Great Ocean Road is now listed by the Australian Heritage Trust. This film is the first part of a 2 part series that explores the natural beauty in the Great Otway National Park. The journey commences on the Great Ocean Road with panoramic views and travel lapse footage. We are whisked into the mountains where we view the spectacular Erskine Falls before running into some of the local wildlife. We travel deeper inland where we view the Mountain Ash trees and the wet sclerophyll forests. These giants can live for 500 years. As we descend through the micro-flora we happen upon one of the Otway Nation Park's rare residents before again heading back to the Great Ocean Road. We end this part of the journey at the Castle Cove lookout viewing the wild Southern Ocean and Bass Strait. Part 2 of the journey will take us into Port Campbell National Park and the Famous Twelve Apostles.
