Imagine having a child who needs important medication. It’s available to other children for other reasons, but it’s not available to your child. I’m not being dramatic. Trans kids literally do not sit well in their skin. Puberty blockers allow them to breathe until they figure it out. Medical decisions in any scenario should be made between the parents, their children, and their physician. It is inconceivable that anyone outside of this intimate circle should have a seat at the table. Ivy did not choose to be trans, she was born that way just as she was born with her beautiful brown eyes. And that can’t be changed. Transgender children’s lives are not easy.
