Mataderos es uno de los 48 barrios de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (capital de la República Argentina). Se localiza en el límite oeste de la ciudad y forma parte de la Comuna 9. Está comprendido por las siguientes avenidas: General Paz, Emilio Castro, Eva Perón y Escalada. A su vez limita con los siguientes barrios: Liniers (al norte), Villa Luro (al noreste), Parque Avellaneda (al este y sureste) y Villa Lugano (al sur). Mientras que al oeste limita con las localidades bonaerenses de Lomas del Mirador y La Tablada. Mataderos es muy conocido por la Feria de Mataderos y el Club Atlético Nueva Chicago. Su nombre nace en alusión a un matadero de ganado vacuno instalado en el año 1889, año en el cual todavía convivían en esta zona el campo y la ciudad. Superficie: 7,6 km2. It also borders the following neighborhoods: Liniers (to the north), Villa Luro (to the northeast), Parque Avellaneda (to the east and southeast) and Villa Lugano (to the south). While to the west it borders Lomas del Mirador and La Tablada (small cities in the province of Buenos Aires). Mataderos is well known for the Fair of Mataderos and the Football Club of Nueva Chicago. Its name was born in allusion to a cattle slaughterhouse (Mataderos=slaughterhouses) installed in 1889, the year in which the countryside and the city still coexisted in this area.
