Cloak of Deception is a complex political thriller that gives a lot of information about the lead up to Episode I: The Phantom Menace. If you are a fan of political intrigue and want to know more about the political nuances of the prequel era, definitely check this book out! If you’re looking for lots of action and insights into the Jedi, though, you might find yourself frustrated with the story. But I did appreciate the picture it gave me of Valorum and Palpatine’s characters, and their rather Shakespearian relationship.
