The End for Chiltern Railways Mark 3 Coaches

The Mark 3 passenger coach was first introduced onto the Chiltern line in 2010. They were operated in push pull formation with a Class 67 locomotive supplied by EWS and a Driving Van Trailer. Further Mark 3 coaches were added to the fleet after the failure of the open access operator Wrexham & Shropshire in 2011. In 2014 the Class 67s were replaced by Class 68 locomotives supplied by Direct Rail Services. These veteran coaches that date back to the 1970s are now being withdrawn and replaced by Mark 5 coaches originally intended for on the Trans Pennine Express services.
