A Million Angels 2016 Severed Heads

The original clip for 'A Million Angels' was made in the mid 1980s as a 'live jam' around a section of video created by Ian Andrews, who had recorded a bit of TV to 1 inch tape and then 'scratched' the video through a time base corrector to get the slow motion dancing effect. Stephen R Jones and I processed this through Stephen's analogue video synthesiser, mixing desk and an early model Fairlight CVI, onto U-Matic tape. The Fairlight being the weakest link - the resolution of the result was quite low. Although we screened this in the 80's I have always wanted to have a better rendition in high definition. This has only been possible when Stephen recently located the original footage from Ian. This new version is not identical to the first but has many of the same features - the scrolling crosses, frame grabs and slides and so on. Everything apart from the sources is now 'state of the art' for 2016 - real time CGI crosses with fluid effects, a new digital video synthesiser, but again 'jammed' to make something glitchy and unpredictable. It was featured in recent exhibitions in Europe.
