This is a video I've produced using a mixture of home video clips, photo's and archive images to show the rides at Mablethorpe's famous seaside funfair.lt also shows how some of rides used to look, ones that have gone, and some of the rides from the good old days.Mablethorpe funfair is a permanent site, which has been around for many years, and has always had traditional rather than white knuckle theme park style rides. The prices are good, and on some special nights all rides are only 99p, this is in contrast to the nearby, and more expensive 'theme park' style fairs at Fantasy Island and Skegness. There is also the famous travelling fair which visits Boston, and takes over most of the town.I don't have a clip of the traditional Big Wheel they have now added (You can see this at Dune Leisure's website, the fairs owners) but I've been a few times, and have seen a lot of changes to the fair and town.Actually, there was even an indoor fair called Funland, located in a big old warehouse behind one of the towns arcades, this is now home to an indoor Boot Sale, and a leaky roof!. The rides at Mablethorpe have been updated and repainted in recent years to make sure all the rides look their best, this includes the dodgem cars being replaced, it's just a shame some of the shops in town couldn't do the same, as some of them look a bit shabby. The Fair is great for those with a family having rides suitable for all ages, with many Juvenille rides, which I show in this video, and of course it's next to one of the best beaches in the country, with miles of lovely golden sand, which is kept clean and tidy. It's a typical old victorian seaside town, as I say a little run down in places, with the usual mix of gift shops, £ shops, amusement arcades (I used to love Jacksons, used to have some rare videogames, Pole Position, Star Wars and lots of old Barcrest MPU3 fruit machines, which I suspect are still around somewhere?), and no shortage of places to buy burgers, chips, ice cream, conuts, and of course a stick of rock, all at very reasonable prices, and parking isn't too bad either! ...best one imo is the large car park behind the Co-op. So, I hope you enjoy this video, which shows the rides as they are now, and photo montages of how they used to be, and some from way back in the old days, and if you do, don't forget to look at my other Fun Fair videos!
