Most days in the barn go undocumented. My phone is usually set aside, and the work just happens. But this day felt different — and I’m really glad I captured it. I’ve rebuilt a lot of carburetors at this point (this makes number nine), but somehow I’d never worked on one with a choke. My dad never ran chokes on his cars, so this was completely new territory for me. In this video, Dale walks me through how a choke actually works, why it’s there, and what to look for — and you get to watch me learn it in real time. No script. No polish. Just hands-on learning in the barn. These dual four-barrel carburetors are for my dad’s 1957 Corvette — a 283 with an aluminum intake — and rebuilding them myself has been incredibly meaningful. I’m deeply grateful for people like Dale who are willing to teach, explain, and let me do the work with my own hands. This is one of those quiet, rare moments that usually goes unseen. If you’ve ever learned something new the old-school way — by listening, doing, and paying attention — this one’s for you. #ClassicCars #1957Corvette #Carburetor #LearningInTheBarn #DualQuads #VintageCars #HandsOnLearning #classiccarrestoration
