Small town museums are struggling. They are the heart and soul of small town America; anchoring communities by collecting, preserving and memorializing local stories. Yet, small museums struggle with the 21st century and here is how we save them. Jennifer Snyder, Phd is the Director of Digital Initiatives at the Florida Humanities Council where she builds digital platforms to help connect communities across the state. In 2015, Dr. Snyder built Florida Stories, a free downloadable walking tour for Apple and Android devices that can hold up to 20 community tours. Her latest project, thinkFlorida, is a free, open source software system that connects small town museums across the state. thinkFlorida is currently in the prototype phase and is being user tested in the St. Petersburg History Museum and the Polk County History Center. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
