Purtis Creek State Park • Purtis Creek State Park (Previous Purtis Creek video) Purtis Creek State Park is a Two Tired Teachers favorite state park, among several favorites. Purtis Creek is a favorite because of the campsites themselves. In some of the sites, you can see the people camping next to you; however, in many of the campsites, you see no one on either side because of the dense foliage. Purtis Creek is a midsize park with around 60 sites. Another reason that this park is ranked among our favorites is that many of the campsites are quite large. It may seem like a little thing, but we also like this park because in the day use area it has a fishing pier. Before Sharon got her kayak, a lot of her fishing was done from piers. A very cool thing about this park is that someone did a project as part of becoming an eagle scout by making a solar walk across the dam. It's about our solar system and the planets specifically. It's a half mile across the dam. The park does, of course, have some wildlife. We saw lots of deer, three armadillos, and some crappie that Sharon caught while fishing. By the way, Purtis Creek State Park does have a fishing pier. The park is close to the Metroplex. It's southeast of Dallas on Hwy. 175. On weekends, in the spring and fall, this park will be full; so you will need reservations if you want to stay at Purtis Creek during those busy seasons. The Two Tired Teachers highly recommend Purtis Creek State Park.
