Malnutrition comes in many forms, from hunger to obesity. Malnutrition, simply put, is bad nutrition. Bad nutrition because you are eating either too much food, or too little food. Too little food because you are not meeting your dietary requirements and so the body’s growth and development is affected—undernourishment—or it can be exposing the body to too much dietary energy and nutrients and so there are consequences. And that too is considered malnutrition. Malnutrition is caused by too little food, too much food or just the wrong food. Hundreds of millions of people around the world are starving while half a billion are obese They are side-by-side in the same countries, and in the same communities. Prevent malnutrition by breastfeeding babies and ensuring access to healthy diets for everybody.
