Not easy to play the chords in this rather slow tempo and meanwhile keep the long melody line. I really like the harmonies and the calm and pieceful end of this piece. Tchaikovsky wrote to his patroness Nadezhda von Meck in May 1878: "I want to create a series of little individual pieces just for children, and with an attractive title, like Schumann's [obviously referring to Schumann's "Album für die Jugend" Op. 68].
