The Audi Q7: Still a Top Luxury SUV Contender in 2024?

In this review, we take a deep dive into the facelifted second-generation Audi Q7 to see if it still holds its ground as a top contender in the luxury SUV segment. If you are eyeing a full-size luxury SUV, we have got all the details you need to help make an informed decision. But does the Q7 deliver on all fronts? Let us break it down. A Quick Look at the Audi Q7 The Audi Q7 first made its way to India in 2015, but due to delays caused by the pandemic, the facelifted version only arrived in 2022. With a subtle yet premium design, the hexagonal grille, LED DRLs, and chrome accents give it a polished look, while its imposing size at over 5 metres in length makes a bold statement. However, the 19-inch wheels could use a more dynamic design, and compared to its rivals like the Mercedes GLS and BMW X7, it doesn’t feel as dominating on the road. Interior & Features: Luxurious Yet Simple Step inside, and the Q7 feels more vibrant than its exterior. You get a 10.1-inch infotainment system with crisp graphics, an 8.6-inch touchscreen for climate controls, and a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit that enhances the tech experience. Features like a panoramic sunroof, 4-zone climate control, and a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen system create a luxe atmosphere, but the absence of features like heated and cooled seats or wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay feels like a miss in a car of this segment. Driving Experience & Performance Behind the wheel, the Q7 offers a smooth and comfortable ride thanks to its 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The Quattro all-wheel-drive system adds fun and agility, but with a soft suspension tuned for comfort, there’s noticeable body roll at higher speeds. Despite its massive size, the Q7 manages to feel easy in traffic and while parking, though its rivals outshine it in terms of road presence. Pricing & Competition Starting at Rs. 88.66 lakh, the Q7 is priced competitively against its rivals, the Mercedes GLS and the BMW X7, but it does lack some premium features found in its competition. If you’re looking for an understated, family-friendly luxury SUV, the Audi Q7 makes a solid case for itself, though it could certainly use a few updates. Is the Audi Q7 your perfect luxury SUV?
