Endgame strategy in two bishops vs bishop and knight endgames is incredibly complex and subtle. There aren't many strict rules which is why it's hard to study it and why it takes practice to improve in. In this game I had the bishop and knight and an extra pawn, which usually means that you have just enough compensation for the bishops if the position is open, and this one was. It was symmetrical pawn islands on both sides of the board, which usually favors the bishops heavily. That was the case here too.
