This two-step axial interpolation flap is used to reconstruct large defects of the nose, such as that created by a skin cancer. The flap includes the creation of a pedicle (bridge of tissue) that is allowed to remain for about ~l3 weeks, then removed after vascularity is well established between the wound and the flap. . P.S. Squamous cell carcinomas are often painful dome-shaped nodules with a hard keratin-filled crater - ours was a bit of granola 🥴 which is, IMHO, less gross than when it cameo’ed as our earwax. .
