The Career Chronicles series returns. Eiji Ezaki grew up watching pro wrestling and, against his parents wishes initially, went to train at the FMW dojo, alongside college friend Masashi Honda. The two went through the rigorous training regimen and soon became roster members of the fledgling promotion. As time went on, Honda became Mr Gannosuke and his stock rose. Eiji decided to travel to Mexico to further hone his skills. There, he created the Hayabusa character and began utilizing a high flying style. He returned briefly to Japan in 1994 to represent FMW in the Suoer J Cup. He then returned to Mexico and debuted the Hayabusa character in FMW the following year in Onita’s retirement bout. A rough rest of the year was propped up with an excellent feud with the Gladiator. 1996 started rough but ended with Hayabusa finding his footing and elevating FMW. 1997 saw Gannosuke return and ignite a feud that would last through the end of FMW itself. 1998 would bring Hayabusa to the apex when he won the Double Title, defending against Masato Tanaka a few weeks later in a classic. The following year Hayabusa would shed the mask and become H. Fans would long for Hayabusa, however, and by 2000 he was back. Wins against Tanaka and Gannosuke would truncate the return to form. Unfortunately, time was short. Hayabusa would win the WEW Heavyweight Championship before disaster struck. Hayabusa would end up paralyzed after a slip on the second rope. FMW would fold mere months later. Hayabusa would remain in the public eye, both with the FMW spin-offs that would pop up and as a singer. He would fight to regain mobility and even entered the ring under his own power. 2016 would bring one final shock as Eiji was found in his apartment having passed away. His legacy still carries weight today, with wrestlers all over the world using his moves and paying tribute to his look. Hayabusa’s style is well known for taking to the skies in spectacular fashion. His Firebird Splash is among the best you’ll see. The Falcon Arrow solidified his status as a well rounded wrestler. H Thunder put down many foes, and the Phoenix Splash is one of the most breathtaking moves in all of pro wrestling.
