Travel 1.5 miles north of State Road 20 and turn on Blue Springs Road North in Youngstown, and you happen upon the Blue Spring recreation area on Econfina Creek. Blue Spring is part of a network of 11 springs or spring groups with a total of at least 39 vents situated along the Econfina Creek basin. Within Blue Spring, there are three distinct spring vents. The collective flow categorizes this group as a third magnitude spring, with a flow ranging between 1 and 10 cubic feet per second. The water from Blue Spring, along with other springs in the Econfina Creek area, eventually flows into Deer Point Lake. Notably, Deer Point Lake serves as the primary source of drinking water for the residents of Bay County. •The recreation area has been enhanced to include ADA-compliant ramp access and stair access to the spring, an observation deck overlooking the spring vent, and a pedestrian bridge offering views of a distinct karst feature. •Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to utilize picnic pavilions, a pedestal grill, a fire ring, and a portable toilet for added convenience.Reservation-only usage is applicable to three distinct campsites located adjacent to the recreation area. The Blue Spring camping area is accessed via the initial entrance on Blue Springs Road, while the day use area can be reached through the second entrance on the same road. The primitive campsite areas are equipped with grills, pavilions, and an ADA-compliant portable toilet. Camping reservations can be made through Northwest Florida Water Management here: https://www.camplife.com/372/reservat...
