19 Austin Police Officers Indicted on Aggravated Assault Charges

Nineteen police officers in Austin, Texas have been indicted for their actions during 2020 protests following the killing of George Floyd. The charge is aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Travis County’s district attorney says law enforcement injured people who were innocent bystanders. The district attorney says an indictment from a Texas grand jury is a preliminary decision that probable cause exists to believe a crime was committed. the announcment came shortly after austin's city council agreed to settle two lawsuits for two men injured by law enforcement during the protests.
