We decided to treat ourselves to a first-class journey from Galle to Colombo since we’d only gone unreserved previously. We were in the observation car which you’ll always travel in if you book first class on most Sri Lankan trains, it is designed with a huge window on the front or back of the carriage (depending on perspective) so we were super excited to soak up the beautiful coastal views of our journey.
