Wide and Narrow Alleys - Chinese Street Food | This is Chengdu, China

Locally known as Kuan-Zhai Xiangzhi (“kuan” = wide, “zhai” = narrow, “xiangzi” = alley), the Wide-Narrow Alleys of Chengdu are very much a tourist attraction in the city. The two pedestrian streets are packed with food and shopping. The buildings are chic versions of ancient China. At night, the alleys light up and tourists jump from vendor to vendor eating traditional street food and buying up an assortment of souvenirs. The wide and narrow alleys are cool, but they don't really feel like traditional China. We go a few blocks north in the same neighborhood to get a sense of what the area feels like without all the bells and whistles... or in Chinese: gongs and selfie-sticks.
