Comment below! ↓ 💡 Hello there, Today we take a look at the Maag EQ2 and 4 from Plugin Alliance Let me start off by saying I have a true weak spot for, small and cute EQ’s, so this one is right up my alley, pair this with the fact that I am also a true digital hardware recreation enthusiast, and that I'm particularly obsessed with having a crisp and airy high end, makes these 2 plugins, a match made in heaven. So what makes the two hardware units so special, that they are worthy, to be digitally remade? Just like some of the counterparts such as the Pultec with push and pull, and the Neve 1076 with its iconic 12kHz band, the Maag EQ’s also have a special trick up their sleeves: the “Air” band, which is a high shelf with a unique slope. As you might have noticed, you can set the shelf at 20kHz, and even 40kHz, which might seem silly at first, but due to the fact that and I’m quoting from the official manual here: “The frequencies below the shelf peaks are also affected due to the transitional slope.”, you will still get a very subtle and nice coloration in the audible range. They work great by themselves, but they compliment each other perfectly too, and I find I get the best results with the EQ2 and EQ4 in series.
