This haunting track is inspired by the grim, atmospheric location of Ravenswood—a forgotten mining town nestled in rain-drenched redwoods, where bones of birds litter the forest floor and whispers from ancient stones promise power... at an unspeakable cost. The song draws from the town’s most tragic tale: that of a once-loving father driven to madness by the whispers echoing in the dark after he was trapped beneath the earth. As the infection of that madness spreads, the boundary between man and monster dissolves. Ritual sites are prepared in blood, and a sleeping heart beneath the earth begins to stir. The song mourns innocence lost and choices twisted beyond recognition, asking whether evil can ever be stopped once the first thread has unraveled. With references for fans of the setting to uncover—and a chilling tone that echoes through every line—this piece captures the horror, sorrow, and fragile hope buried beneath Ravenswood’s mist. LYRICS: (Verse 1) Beneath the dripping redwoods, the raven bones gleam, Yet their cries persist, an unbroken stream. The miners dug where black opals cling, And woke the madness slumbering. The stones drink the blood they’re fed, Madness grows once you’ve been bled. The chapel burns, the mine decays, But deep below, the heart still waits. (Chorus) The whispers coil, a siren’s plea, To wake the void beneath the trees. An ancient evil stirs below, Its rise will set the world aglow. Madness calls, the threads unwind, Some truths are better left confined. (Verse 2) The girl draws monsters in the dirt alone, Her screams tore rifts through worlds unknown. An Elder’s blood, a deadly gift, To open doors that never should exist. Through the mist, the villagers pray, To gods that turned their hearts away. A mother’s cry, a father’s plea, Will truth or silence set her free? (Chorus) The whispers coil, a siren’s plea, To wake the void beneath the trees. An ancient evil stirs below, Its rise will set the world aglow. Madness calls, the threads unwind, Some truths are better left confined. (Bridge) Trapped beneath the earth, alone with lies, The whispers promised, the darkness cried. A father lost to the stone’s cruel gaze, Consumed by shadows, his soul betrayed. The Elder’s whispers drown his soul, A love forgotten, the price untold. The heart beats on, its will divine, While tendrils writhe through root and vine. (Outro) The circle’s drawn, the blood runs deep, A father’s love laid bare to reap. His son’s last breath, the price he paid, For the heart to begin its slow, dread wake… I collaborated with AI to make this. The process involves giving ChatGPT my campaign sourcebook or one-shot adventure to read as a reference, then I usually explain the outline of the song I’d like. Next, we write the lyrics of the song iteratively until it feels like we’ve hit the right elements. After more or less editing, I give the lyrics to Ilovesong AI with some music genre tags to generate the actual song. This can take quite a few generations until I’m happy with the emotion and sound of the song. Afterwards, I think of an artwork to symbolise the story and generate that using Midjourney.
