Formal introductions for the 5 new goats that joined our farm at the end of July! Something that gives me hope in the world of breeding quality dairy goats, is the fact that we all have to start somewhere! Often it isn't instantaneous success with obtaining all of the best of the best genetics. It takes time to develop an eye for quality, not to mention financial resources to make the investments as well. Add in the need for relationships with trustworthy breeders, and the knowledge of countless goats and their pedigrees, and it can leave your head spinning a little bit. I won't claim to be an experienced goat breeder...yet...however, I am willing to learn and ask advice from other breeders (even if they have varying opinions). Goat breeding can be somewhat of a cut throat business, simply due to the fact that we are all unique individuals with semi-unique tastes in what we like to see in our goats. The direction I want to go with our herd is becoming more clear, and I wait with great anticipation for the growth of our herd.
