How can you become a better Earth citizen? You can develop a better understanding of your identity by connecting with where you are on this planet – this place we all call home. “Connecting with Country” provides you with strategies to connect with the country you live on by learning about the relationship that the world’s oldest continuing culture has with their home – the Aboriginal people of the land called Australia. By practicing these simples steps you will develop a better understanding of how you relate to the place you call home. Max Lenoy is a Jirrbal/ Yalangi man who spends his spare time teaching pre-service teachers about Indigenous education and educational technology at James Cook University. His ‘mob’ are from Yarrabah and Palm Island and he was born in Cairns and raised in the Burdekin sugar cane fields. He completed a Bachelor of Education (Primary Teaching) at James Cook University focussed on Educational technology and Indigenous education. He also holds an Education Masters from Harvard University Graduate School of Education and enjoyed the opportunity to also study at the MIT Media Lab and the Sloan School of Management. He recently had the chance to teach in Brazil and is the recipient of a United Nations fellowship. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
