Today a beautiful day has been predicted. When I get up it is still fresh. There are several other cyclists on the campsite. A few solo cyclists, a couple and four bikepackers. It is therefore a great campsite for cyclists. Departure at 9 am and cycle through Sterzling, a beautiful village with a large tower gate. The climb of the Brenner is entirely about a cycle route that goes up and down, sometimes with parts of 10% quite hard. It is a popular route especially with oncoming traffic. At 11 am I am at the top, this is immediately the border with Austria. I still visit a cycling outlet store but can't find anything to like. The descent is via the main road. At one point it was closed due to work. An oncoming cyclist advises me to continue cycling. They just took a break. Then it turns out that it concerns a strip of 100 meters where they are cutting down trees. The descent is therefore nice and quiet without traffic. The brouter sends me back into the mountains, but I keep following the main road to the center of Innsbruck. It is very busy there. Nothing to notice from corona. Then for a long time I follow the cycle path and route along the inn towards Kufstein. You cycle parallel to the beautiful Karwendel mountain range. There are no roads through here, only footpaths. At Jenbach I decide to take a shortcut. I will be punished immediately. The road is super steep for several km with percentages up to 16%. I can just stay on the bike and balance at a speed of 3.5 km per hour. It is also still busy. Eventually I hang and strangle at Achensee at 1730. It is a small site but packed. Fortunately I can still get a seat for 13 euros. Shower is 1 euro extra with coins.
