*2016 visit: • Derelict Old 1980s Indolift Elevator in Bali I first came here back in 2016 but unfortunately I wasn't able to see the elevator in a bit more details as the caretaker wouldn't let me explore around. Five years later, I came back to see the elevator again, and also explored the building a bit as I was quite curious with it. This was an unplanned visit btw. This time there was nobody inside and I took a look of the elevator on each floor. Obviously the elevator has stopped working since a long time ago, but it's still interesting to see anyway. Probably the most interesting part is on the "2nd mezzanine" floor. This is the only floor where the landing indicator is mounted next to the door rather than above the door like on other floors. This is because the ceiling on that particular floor is so low, leaving no space to put the indicator on the top. I find it interesting that the indicator was mounted on the same height as the call station, and even the size is also the same. They could've easily installed it above the call station, but nevertheless it is a rather unusual configuration! The main question now is, whether this elevator is traction or hydraulic, I'm not so sure. There is a small room underneath the elevator shaft in the basement, which is most likely the elevator machine room. If that's the case, then I'd say the elevator could either be bottom drive traction or hydraulic. Unfortunately I didn't even notice that room when I went down to the basement, only to find out that later when I reviewed the video at home. The reason why I didn't go down to the basement is because it was dark and spooky in there so I didn't risk myself going there. Would've loved to check out that room though :( Also it seems that the elevator shaft doesn't go beyond the roof. If you look at the building from the outside, you will notice that there is no protruding structure on the roof, meaning that the machine room is indeed in the basement. The elevator served four floors but it doesn't go down to the basement. Wondering on which floor the elevator car is at now. Overall it was quite interesting to revisit this elevator again, even though it's now derelict. This might be the last 1980s Indolift elevator in Bali after the one at Bali Garden Beach Hotel was replaced into a Schindler 3300 AP in 2014. I would've loved to explore this building in more details, but the problem is I couldn't left my bike alone for too long otherwise someone could steal it. About the "2nd mezzanine" floor, it looks more like a little extra floor above the 2nd floor. There was almost nothing in there apart from an outdoor balcony, an oddly shaped room in the corner and a wide area facing the atrium. Not sure what was the purpose of that floor, but it's like an "indoor balcony" with nothing on it. • Brand: Indolift • Installed by: PT.
