𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 We recently had the privilege of capturing a fascinating conversation between two leading voices in interventional cardiology - Prof. Morton Kern and our own CSO, Prof. Hans Reiber. They discussed key learnings from the FAVOR III Europe trial, exploring why angiography-derived FFR results differed from wire-based FFR, and how image quality plays a decisive role in patient outcomes. The dialogue shed light on: • Quality Matters: poor or non-reproducible angiograms accounted for significant discrepancies in results. When high-quality images were used, outcomes aligned closely with established FFR benchmarks. • The Role of Technology: emerging tools, including deep learning, will help operators assess angiogram quality in real time: flagging issues like overlap, poor contours, or excessive noise. • Clinical Implications: With good technique, angiography-based FFR remains a viable and valuable tool, complementing wire-based measurements for better patient care. As Prof. Kern reminded us: "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮". At Medis, we couldn’t agree more — and we are committed to providing solutions that help clinicians get it right from the start.
