Pastor David unpacks how faith, Ishmael and patience intersect in the life of a believer. Faith is birthed by the Word, but it must be mixed with our response and partnered with patience; otherwise we are tempted to “produce Ishmael” – man-made solutions that try to help God fulfil His promises. He warns that refusing to submit to the authority of God’s Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit is, in God’s eyes, a form of witchcraft – control and manipulation in homes, churches and relationships. Using Abraham, Peter and Judas, he calls the church to surrender fully to God’s will, God’s way, in God’s time.
