I hit the phones and rang multiple local newspaper editors and journalists across London to secure an interview for my MA Journalism Ethics' presentation. Eventually, my perseverance paid off when I got through to the Newsquest editor Will Harrison. I explained what I was doing and how it would benefit my classmates. He listened attentively, I made a good case and then he was happy to help! On the day I interviewed him and his reporters Nick Kituno and Orlando Jenkinson for over one and a half hours which I've condensed to just over half an hour. With the national newspapers, I know that many of the reporters are writing stories based only on agency copy and don't have the opportunity to go out and find stories. So it's so great to hear from these local paper journalists that they are able to go out into their communities, talk to people, find news and break stories.
