Thanks @siflex for the donation and suggestion! Also thanks to @wmvansise8797 for lending me the 1969 Fender P Bass and 1974 Greco 335 for this cover. And finally to Andrew Weiss for doing Mitch Mitchell's drum part for this! To buy the full guitar tabs, shop my Patreon- https://www.patreon.com/posts/1199319... This is the Rock and Roll Circus live version of Yer Blues, as performed by the one-off supergroup The Dirty Mac: John Lennon on vocals and guitar Eric Clapton on lead guitar Keith Richards on bass Mitch MItchell on drums Please check out my guitar cover of the Beatles version! • Yer Blues- The Beatles (Guitar Cover) Unlike the Beatles version from the White Album (in the key of E), The Mac played this in Eb. Eric, John and Keith all tuned their instruments down a half-step to Eb, a technique that Hendrix and other rock bands used at the time. It's possible John wanted to do this because it is easier to sing in a lower key Here's the gear they were using for this live performance: John- Epiphone Casino into Pete Townshend's Sound City L100 Eric- Gibson 335 into Brian Jones' Fender Black Showman Keith- Fender P Bass into Bill Wyman's Triumph 100w Lead and Bass Mitch- Charlie Watt's 1960 Gretsch Round Badge 4-piece kit For Eric's 335 part, I'm using a 1970's Greco 335 copy. It is very similar to a Gibson 335, but is fully hollow instead of semi-hollow. I'm using an Analogman King of Tone on the drive side, going into my 1965 Fender Black Bassman. Eric was on the bridge pickup for the whole performance, as am I For John's guitar, I'm using my Epiphone USA Casino on the bridge pickup. I'm also using the Analogman King of Tone, but on the boost side. Also going into my 65 Fender Bassman Keith used a 60's Fender P-Bass, and I'm using a 1969 Fender P Bass. It's going into the bass channel of my 65 Bassman, and has flatwound strings on it Andrew is using his 1960's 4-piece Ludwig kit for Mitch Mitchell's part. It's being mic'd using the Glyn Johns method (3 microphones). A 1970's AKG D12E on the kick drum, a Peluso U67 clone on for mono overhead, and a 1971 Electro Voice RE15 for the side mic. It’s worth noting that Glyn Johns engineered the Rock and Roll Circus, so he would’ve used his technique to mic Mitchell’s kit Here are some interesting quirks about their performance: 0:03 Mitch adds an extra note on the intro fill, past the downbeat 1:24 Keith plays a ghost note before E 1:42 Keith plays C to Csharp, possibly an accident but sounds good 1:50 Keith accidentally plays Bb to C to B instead of just B 2:07 Keith plays a D blues run instead of an A blues run 3:37 the band makes a rough transition back to the verse 3:42 John tunes his low E string (as seen on the original) 4:06 Keith's bass has feedback as the song ends GEAR USED BY US: 1974 Greco 335 Copy Analogman King of Tone 1965 Fender Bassman Neumann TLM-103 2021 Epiphone Casino USA Royal Tan Analogman King of Tone 1965 Fender Bassman Neumann TLM-103 1969 Fender Precision Bass (refin) with Leo Quan replacement bridge 1965 Fender Bassman Neumann TLM-103 1967 20" Ludwig Kick Drum 1966 12" Ludwig Tom 1967 16" Ludwig Floor Tom 1971 14" Ludwig Acrolite Snare 1960's 18" Zildjian Medium Thin Ride Crash 20" Custom Bettis Ride 18" Zildjian K Medium Thin Dark Crash 1960's 14" Zildjian Hi Hats Thanks for watching!
