SOUNDBITE: (Serbian) Branimir Gugl, Slobodan Milosevic's Lawyer "In a telephone conversation with his family (Milosevic) has suggested to Mrs Markovic (Milosevic's wife) form a team of defense lawyers which has already worked on his defence in Yugoslavia and managed to acquit him of all charges in Belgrade." 5. Cutaway 6. SOUNDBITE: (Serbian) Branimir Gugl, Slobodan Milosevic's Lawyer "As Mrs Markovic told us he is in fantastic psychological condition and he is more concerned for the health and well-being of his family and he says he is not guilty for anything. He also denies any possible additional charges. He was working in the interest of the Serbian people as President and if he was to be head of state again, he would act the same way" 7. Cutaway 8. SOUNDBITE: (Serbian) Branimir Gugl, Slobodan Milosevic's Lawyer "We have not been working on the defense for one basic reason, that is that Mr Milosevic does not recognize the Tribunal and he stressed again during the phone conversation with Mrs Markovic that this is clearly a political trial, based on the fact that he is the only man who stood up against NATO and showed that NATO was not that powerful and it is NATO's extended hand that also put him in jail here in Belgrade." 9. Exterior of Gugl's office STORYLINE: A defence lawyer for former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic says his client is in excellent psychological health, despite his sudden removal from Belgrade to the Hague on Thursday. Milosevic will now face war crimes charges before the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal. Defence lawyer Branimir Gugl, told A-P-T-N in Belgrade that Milosevic had spoken to his wife Mirjana Markovic by telephone from his cell in the Hague. Gugl says Milosevic is unrepentant about his past acts and has told his wife that "if he was to be head of state again, he would act the same way." The lawyer also says Milosevic doesn't recognize the U-N court and considers it "an extension of NATO's hand." Gugl is part of a legal team being used by Milosevic to defend him on charges laid in Belgrade of corruption and abuse of power. The lawyer says Milosevic requested the same team to defend him against the war crimes charges in the Hague. Milosevic was handed over on Thursday by the Serbian government, which ignored a federal Constitutional Court ruling banning his extradition. The move has caused a crisis in the shaky coalition government in Yugoslavia. The crisis emerged after Yugoslavia's prime minister, who is from the tiny republic of Montenegro, resigned on Friday. Zoran Zizic walked out because of what he called the "hasty and tactless decision" to hand Milosevic over to the tribunal. Other members of the Cabinet from Montenegro, all of whom were once staunch Milosevic allies, have followed suit. The moves triggered the government's collapse and drove a deeper wedge between Montenegro and Yugoslavia's larger republic, Serbia, shaking the already fragile Yugoslav federation. Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica now has to try to form a new government. Talks to this end are expected to start on Monday. Yugoslavia's constitution calls for federal elections if a new government is not in place three months after a prime minister's resignation.
