I return to Mitre Square in Whitechapel to walk the route that PC Watkins et al took in and out of the square that night and to show the lighting conditions (or lack thereof) on the night of the murder. This might help demonstrate what could and couldn't be seen due to the darkness as well as give a 'witness eye-view' of how things might have looked on that night. The lighting is quite accurate and I carry with me a bullseye lantern which I keep incorrectly referring to as a 'bulldog' lantern, sorry! Anyway. I think this video is quite effective in showing how dark and shadowy it was on the night of the murder. thanks
