70 years of Hella Innenleuchten-Systeme GmbH (HIS) in Wembach

Hella Innenleuchten-Systeme GmbH in Wembach was founded in 1951 as "Metallwerk Todtnau GmbH" as a subsidiary of the Westphalian metal industry with 35 employees. In 1977, the company headquarters were moved to the newly built plant in Wembach and expanded to become the Hella production location. In 1992, the plant in Zell-Atzenbach was built, where scratch-resistant coated plastic reflectors were produced. These were the forerunners of today's successful technologically sophisticated radomes. Since the change of name in 1997, the company has borne the current name "Hella Innenleuchten-Systeme GmbH" (also known as HIS). Since 2010, HIS has been a worldwide "Lead Plant" for the interior lighting product line with approx. 650 employees.
