Manzarek was then in an unsuccessful band called Rick & the Ravens with his brothers Rick and Jim, while drummer John Densmore was playing with the Psychedelic Rangers and knew Manzarek from meditation classes. Densmore joined the group later in August 1965. Together, they combined varied musical backgrounds, from jazz, rock, blues, and folk music idioms. The five, along with bass player Patty Sullivan, and now christened the Doors, recorded a six-song demo on September 2, 1965, at World Pacific Studios in Los Angeles. These demos have not been re-released since the 1997 box set, except for “Hello, I Love You” and “Moonlight Drive.” The former was re-released on the digital compilation Behind Closed Doors: The Rareties, and the latter on the box set The Doors Anthology: Night Dives the Day, along with the former song. These have been remixed in stereo with AI separating the vocals from the instruments, thus giving the songs a new lease of life.    • The Doors Acetate Demo
