ERN eUROGEN Webinar 129: Fluorescence in pediatric surgery

This webinar took place on the 10th of September. It is part of the ERN eUROGEN and ERNICA colorectal webinar series and was presented by Dr. Carlos Giné, Peadiatric surgeon at the Pediatric Surgery Department, Vall d’Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus in Barcelona, Spain, Dr. Willemieke Tummers, Surgeon in training at Princess Máxima Medical Center in Utrecht, The Netherlands & Dr. Jetske Ruiterkamp, Peadiatric surgeon at Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital University Medical Center in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Fluorescence imaging is a cutting-edge technique that has revolutionised surgical practices across multiple disciplines, including paediatric colorectal surgery. The current use and future directions of fluorescence in pediatric surgery were discussed. Jetske gave a presentation on fluorescence in neonatal patients, then Willemkieke focussed on (targeted) fluorescence in oncology and Carlos talked about colorectal surgery. On each subject recent literature was discussed. The Colorectal webinar series covers all aspects of paediatric colorectal surgery. They are joint presentations between ERNs eUROGEN and ERNICA and are supported by both EUPSA and ARM-Net. eUROGEN is the European Reference Network for rare and complex urogenital diseases and conditions.
