The root development begins at the late bell stage of tooth development. There is formation of Hertwig's epithelial root sheath that helps in the formation of root. when the root dentine is formed the HERs cells they disintegrate and form the epithelial rest cells of epithelial rest cells of malassez or ERM cells. We have also briefly covered formation of single rooted and multi-rooted teeth.
