It’s like the director accidentally shot the whole movie without cleaning the camera lens, leaving the audience squinting harder than the hero himself. Taking back the viewers to the early 2000 soft po*n malayalam film industry, this is the only blue film acted by leading top tier actors of the industry. Prithviraj plays Kaduvakunnel Kuriachan, a man whose greatest talents are his ability to irritate others and lose everything he owns in record time. The movie kicks off with Kaduva flaunting his wealth—a sprawling tea estate, a luxurious house, a fancy bar and a wife with single expression on face throughout the movie. But his oversized ego and a knack for making terrible decisions turn his life into a tragicomic disaster. Kaduva’s biggest mistake? Picking a fight with Joseph Chandy Ouseppukutty (Vivek Oberoi), a police officer who is the real hero of this film. Unlike Kuriachan, Joseph Chandy is a well mannered gentleman who takes revenge when Kuriachan insults his mother and son. What starts as a petty squabble soon escalates into an ego-driven demolition derby, with Kaduva using his estate and his bar as bargaining chips in a game he’s hilariously bad at playing. Kaduva Kuriachan is so foolish that he sell his own house, just to stop a job promotion of Joseph Chandy , who already holds a high position in police department. By the end, Kaduva has managed to lose not just his wealth but also the sympathy of anyone watching. His mansion? Gone. His tea estate? Sold. His bar? Probably hosting karaoke nights under new management. His Wife? Who cares....! Stripped of his riches, Kaduva is left with nothing but a pair of mundu and jubba and a mountain of ihh...ihh.... If you’re looking for a movie that’s half action, half unintentional comedy, and entirely covered in a mysterious blue glow, Kaduva is the film for you.
