This is especially true when we cast on too tightly, use a thick yarn, or place the yarn into the smallest hole of the tension bar. When this happens, stop cranking. This is to prevent the gears from getting stripped of its teeth. Instead, help it along by placing your finger between the needle dividers, and gently pull inwards to guide it through the stuck areas. Turning the handle slowly at the gear also helps. This is not a permanent solution. Rather, to help you through the rough spots as you work on your project.
