Overworld Revolution is patch I made that greatly expands what is possible to do with SMW's overworld. Virtually every vanilla limitation is gone, allowing for all sorts of possibilities. This video showcases some new features of V1.3 of OR, such as the ability to have a proper free roaming implementation on the overworld. If you want to try out Overworld Revolution, here is a download link: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/bskp2r... Here is a list of things new that are shown in the video: Full tile collision is implemented, allowing Mario to collide with the terrain while free roaming. I offer 2 modes for this. "Simple", which uses 16x16 tile collision, and "Advanced", which uses 8x8 tile collision. This video showcases Advanced collision. You can now boot straight into the overworld if desired, bypassing the title screen, intro screen, or both. There is also a script that's loaded when the title screen is bypassed to allow you to initialize the state of the overworld so it can be different from a new game (used here to start the game in 2-player mode). All layer 3 components of the UI now have a sprite implementation, such as the prompts and the scroll arrows. Two strings can be used for level names. And the second string can be placed independently of the first. So, you can use it for things like a world name, a longer level name, the name of the person who made the level, or whatever other use you can think of. Scripts no longer reset when transitioning between maps or levels, allowing for stuff like events that span multiple maps. The intro march is now more accurate to the original. Previously, Mario moved at walking speed instead of climbing speed, started 1 pixel higher on screen, and wasn't facing down. The scroll arrows now account for the border setting, where they move closer to the edges of the screen based on it. Shown here is the behavior when using no border. I've ported over the "quit to title" prompt from Super Mario All-Stars, which can be accessed by pressing select. Or you can disable it if you prefer. Since the title screen and intro are bypassed in this video, it acts similar to if you reset the SNES. And there are a lot more changes that that!
