The Silent Hill franchise has been around for 26 years now, and during this long period of time, we have had more than 15 games comprising a mix of mainline installments, spin-offs, and remakes. However, the journey behind making all these games is really confusing and hard to evaluate because it's literally one of the most shaky in gaming history, and it's a combination of ups and downs even though the series is insanely popular in general. The crazy part is that even the Japanese side was not stable like many people think, especially on the financial standards, because believe it or not, the first two games, Silent Hill 1 and 2, were actually the only commercial successes that exceeded expectations, while Silent Hill 3 and 4 were considered a setback in sales.
