This is a live recording from a kirtan hosted by ROAM Yoga & Wellness, in Bocas del Toro, Panama. Ganesha is one of our most favorite mantras to sing in Kirtan and you may be familiar with the popular versions played by Krishna Das or Deva Premal and Mitten or the unique version of Sam Garrett. Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha (Sanskrit: ॐ गं गणपतये नमः) )is a powerful prayer and mantra comprised of four parts that are all in praise of the Hindu god Ganesha. Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha is used to invoke the blessings of Ganapati and avail ourselves of his peace, knowledge and prosperity. Ganapati or Ganesha is the Hindu god mostly recognized as the remover of obstacles and the grantor of success. As a result, he is extremely popular in India and in Hinduism. Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha can be translated as “My salutations to Ganesha.” This mantra is from the Ganapati Upanishad, a long Sanskrit writing from the Vedas all about and in adoration of Ganesha. OM - The Divine in the form of Sound, the Vibration of the Universe, The Primordial Sound GAM - The Seed Sound, or bija sound of Ganesha GANAPATAYE - Another name of Ganesha, Lord Ganesh, the one who overcomes of obstacles. NAMAHA - I offer you my salutations, I bow to you.
