We're diving into the world of high-precision surveying with an introduction to the Trimble Perspective software and the powerful X9 Laser Scanner. The Trimble X9, much like its predecessor the X7, boasts a very handy visible laser pointer. This isn't just for show – it's a fantastic feature for accurately measuring survey control features. Imagine less equipment to carry and fewer opportunities for error to creep in, as this can often remove the need for traditional tilting target poles! A quick tip for those working in bright sunlight: the red laser's range can be a bit limited. We recommend getting a scan in about 2 meters from your desired target to ensure optimal results. Our suggested workflow is straightforward: complete your regular scanning to ensure good overlap and registration, then simply add an extra scan right next to each of your desired control points. Once you've measured three or more targets within Trimble Perspective, you'll unlock the option for infield georeferencing. Of course, for those who prefer, this can also be done seamlessly in Trimble office software like TBC and Realworks. Stay tuned as we explore more about how the Trimble X9 and Perspective can revolutionise your surveying projects!
