Welcome to this week's Chicken Coop video! As I mentioned I managed to grab a FREE chicken coop, albeit it was rusted, bolts fused together, missing joiners and the roof sheets weren't lined up. However you cant expect much when its free! My Grandmother had an existing "A" Frame coop however it was laying against the shed and had been there for some time. The wire was still wrapped up and sitting in a nice dusty pile in the corner of the shed and the remainder of wire I managed to pick up a while back for $30. My advice to you and to anyone wanting to do this, hunt, hunt, hunt. Gumtree is the way to go and everyday there is more and more. People want to reduce their clutter so you will be surprised what you pick up! Below is a list of items I actually had to buy to get this up and functional. 25mm Poly inline water filter $11 from Bunnings 25mm-13mm reducer $4 from Bunnings multiple outdoor galvanized screws 50 pack $9.29 IBC 1000Lt water tank $100 Chicken nipples were already in the shed, but you can find these for around $18 for 2. Wooden pallets are free and if you have to pay for them, you aren't looking hard enough! keep searching for places that give them away for free. As with chickens, people sell poultry often on Gumtree and you can usually find chicks for $40 each and sometimes even full grown chickens for free Chickens won't lay eggs if they are stressed, so once they are happy you will find they will start producing pretty quickly. Rough guide is one egg per day per chicken. Note: I am not a chicken expert, a coop expert, an anything expert. I am your run of the mill normal bloke just trying to make things better and trying to be more efficient with the little money I have. Join this channel to get access to perks: / @rapid_australia
