Benign neoplasms are localized, slow-growing, and do not invade surrounding tissues, while malignant neoplasms (cancers) exhibit aggressive growth, invade nearby tissues, and have the potential to spread (metastasize) to distant organs. The process of neoplasia begins with genetic mutations in the cellular DNA, often caused by carcinogens such as chemicals, radiation, or viruses. This leads to dysregulation of cell growth and the evasion of normal cell death mechanisms, allowing abnormal cells to proliferate uncontrollably. Oncogenes (promoting cell growth) and tumor suppressor genes (inhibiting cell growth) play critical roles in this process. As tumors grow, they can induce angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) to sustain their nutrient supply. Histological examination of neoplasms is essential for diagnosis, helping to determine the grade (degree of malignancy) and stage (extent of spread) of the tumor, guiding treatment decisions. 🧬🦠💉 #Neoplasia #Tumors #BenignTumors #MalignantTumors #Cancer #CellMutation #Oncogenes #TumorSuppressorGenes #Carcinogenesis #Pathology #TumorBiology #Angiogenesis #Metastasis #GeneticMutations #CancerPathology #Histology #TumorGrading #TumorStaging #Oncology #CancerResearch #CellGrowth #TumorDiagnosis #EarlyDetection #TargetedTherapies #CancerTreatment #MedicalPathology #NeoplasiaAwareness #TumorMarkers #CellularBiology #OncologyResearch #MedicalEducation
