A hunt for five other accused, including former legislator and gangster Atique Ahmed's son Asad, continues. Vijay Chaudhary alias Usman, the man seen shooting Umesh and two police gunners (both of whom are dead) in the CCTV footage of the day, was injured in a clash with a police team on Monday and was declared dead after he was taken to hospital for treatment. His death during an encounter with the police comes within a week of another accused in the case, Arbaaz, being killed in a similar fashion by the police. This encounter followed CM Yogi Adityanath's declaration in the UP assembly that the mafia accused (Ahmed) and all other mafias will be "obliterated". Another accused Sadaqat has also been arrested by the police.
