The best way to use this technique is to use your ears. *This is not a technique to alter the frequencies of an instrument or voice.* Compressors: The secret lies in the attack knob. Faster attack will compress the initial transient, therefore, the sound sounds tucked in and farther away. Slow attacks will allow the initial transient to go through, therefore, the impact will come out as louder. Reverb: This is the most common way to create depth. Be careful, adding too much reverb can be messy and unclear. Use your ears and make sure you are adding good elements to the track not destructive elements. 0% = Closer 100% = Farther
