2023 World Health Day takes the theme "Health for All" and has entered its 75th year. WHO set April 7 as an effort to increase our awareness of health issues and education about improving the quality of life for the last seven decades. World Health Day is one of the 11 global health campaigns inaugurated by WHO. Looking at the challenges to the healthcare industry in the last few decades, messages about health are fascinating to strengthen, especially during and after the Covid 19 pandemic. To make health accessible and real access for all people, we need to campaign that health and access to health services is one of the fundamental rights for every human being, and the constitution guarantees this. In addition, the need for medical devices is also a significant factor. These devices must be certified and have patent protection. Do you know that public health has a strong relationship with patents? Yes, patents do. Patents are designed to protect innovation while at the same time encouraging that the results of these innovations will have a positive impact on society at large. There are many connections if we talk about the relationship between patents and public health. One of them is in the pharmaceutical field. The process of making medicines through research and development will produce an invention in the form of good quality drugs. We need to know that research and development to manufacture a drug for specific diseases have a high cost, a lot of investment and a very long time. This process also requires clinical trials and permits, which are not for a moment. So based on this reality, patents exist to facilitate the development process. Patents will provide exclusive rights for parties involved in the pharmaceutical world, such as drug companies, pharmacists, researchers, research institutions, government agencies and others. Reporting to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the regulations governing patents have contributed to public health by providing explanations regarding patent information, which can also encourage researchers to be able to develop new technology for certain diseases. During the pandemic, the community depended on discovering the Covid-19 vaccine as a form of effort and resistance to the pandemic, which had claimed many lives. Many developed countries have found and developed vaccines for the COVID-19 vaccine. Pharmaceutical companies, researchers and research institutes have followed this development. The development of vaccine research and patent protection significantly impacts society in fighting several diseases that require vaccines, such as pox, polio, measles and others. In addition, inventions about drugs have also significantly impacted the treatment of people with cancer, dementia, HIV, tuberculosis and other diseases. Either directly or indirectly, intellectual property in the form of patents has positively impacted public health by encouraging invention and providing exclusive and economic rights. ____________________ Muhammad Iqbal Syahid, SH Nimah Nurul Ihsani, S.s Photo & Video by freepik Music by infraction Editing by Ennusa Studios #WorldHealthDay #HealthForAll #75 #RoadTo #INTA #INTA2023 #trademarklaw #AnnualMeeting #InternationalTrademarkAssociation #INTA2023 #INTAAnnualMeeting #conference #harifilmnasional #lawfirm #amrpartnership #AMR #intelectualproperty #IPlawfirm #IPAttorney #copyright #patent #trademark #industrialdesign #tradesecret #IP #kekayaanintelektual #andromedaiplawyer #iplawyer
