How to mark a freediving line for open water training sessions. You can also tape the tennis ball in place using a tapered thickness to avoid any entanglement hazard of the lanyard. Having a moveable tennis ball can be handy when diving with beginners as you can slide it up to particular depths you want to point out to them. NOTE: This is a bit different than competition markings, but its more useful in every day diving. It is easy for everyone to understand and very simple to explain to your buddies. The standards for marking a competition line are in the AIDA competition rules. You are welcome to alter the marking system to suit your needs, just make sure that you mark the distance to the bottom. Timecodes: 0:00 | Intro 0:44 | Adding a tennis ball stopper 2:43 | Laying out the line in 5m (You can adjust this to whatever increment you want) 4:45 | Taping the line increments using a electrical tape (You can add permanent marker underneath too so if the tape falls off, you can still see the marking but we recommend inspecting your tape as you drop the line) 6:26 | Summary of the line marking scheme 7:09 | Taping the candy-cane section (2m above the tennis ball in this example, different for competitions) 7:53 | Optional addition of a "tag" to touch to simulate grabbing a tag 8:14 | Recap explaining the marking system 8:50 | Watch part 2 to learn how to tie off and set up bottom weights. 9:00 | Outro Watch More: ICE DIVING • 🧊 Freediving under Ice | Ice diving in Canada SHIPWRECKS • Shipwreck Diving Tobermory | Freediving so...
